From August 19 to 21, at what can be described as a festival of ideas, African literary and cultural scholars and performers, authors, poets and artists will be ascending the Lastamountains to spend three days in historic Lalibela in an environment, rich and vibrant,
celebrating East Africa’s finest cultural pracitioners.
This year’s edition is the fourth in the series. Mounted every two years, the Eastern Africa Literary and Cultural Studies Conference was first held in 2013 at the University of Nairobi. In 2015, the community of African scholars was hosted by Makerere University, Uganda, and in 2017, the University of Dar es Salaam hosted the event.
