Ethiopia under security and alert situation by Ayele Addis

New Displacement and New Returnees update
As of May 8, 2019,the overall new returnees are 23,597, total returnees 801,353, and the total up-to-date current IDPs count is2,693,013.

Security Update
In BenishangulGumuz region,  Gambela, Amaroworeda and Gedeb there is stable situation& no new injury for today.
However, in Ethio Kenya border (250 km from Mersabeh city of Kenya) there is a conflict due to live stock water source. 11 people are killed, 2 persons injured and 4 persons are lost.InArsi Zone, Asela area there is religious conflict and due to that many people are injured. (No exact count). In Woldiya city there was a demonstration in opposing the displacement and attack ongoing in different areas on Amharapeople.In SNNP region,Amaro, Burji and Segen areas which are bordered to Gujii are under command post.


Outbreak Alert
A report of AWD cases not received today (08 April 2019) from Amhara region. But, the sample taken from AbergeleWoredabrought to Yechilay Primary Hospital inYechila town, at T/Abergelea woreda (a neibouringworeda)in Tigrayregion.Then it will be moved to Mekelleby early morning the next day.
A rumor of animal anthrax reported from west Wellega zone of Nejoworeda. So far 19 cattle were died. No human cases reported.
Major Response Activities
As of 08 April 2019 a total of 5063 IDPs get MHPSS service.
CTC Kit and RDT kit were assessed in the two regions based on UNICEF and WHO info.Amhara confirmed that they have them both (CTC from UNICEF, and RDT from WHO). Tigray had confirmed they didn’t received the RDT, are checking the CTC. Preposition of AWD kits made to three sites in Amhara, EPSA had forwarded to respective branch hubs (Gondar, and Shire Hubs)
Key Challenges of the Day
The following challenges were mentioned on 07 April 2019, but it also exists;
·         Still have Difficulties in getting timely and complete daily report from some sites as per the daily format sent
·         Security issue in various regions remains a challenge
·         AWD affected areas are hard to reach and have poor ICT/network infrastructure
